Day 32 - May 16th, 2007 - We begin our journey home

We are just finishing our packing and getting ready to head to the train station. We will be taking the train to Kiev tonight. It is about a 12 hour trip. We leave around 7:00 pm and will arrive in Kiev around 7:00 am. We will go immediately from the train station to the doctor for Natasha's medical exam. Our appointment with the US Embassy is at 11:00 am. We will then get some lunch and head to our apartment in Kiev. We will pick up Natasha's visa on Friday, and should have most of Friday to look around Kiev before we head to the airport on Saturday morning.

We are excited to be heading home, but sad to leave many of the new friends we have made. Gail is busy packing (whatever she can't pack before our train leaves will stay here - Natasha and I finished packing several hours ago), and will respond to the comments tomorrow night.

Yea!!!!! I am so glad that it is almost over for you and that you will be back on USA soil very soon! It is very bitter sweet when you leave your child's country and you have made a lot of friends too but when you get to the airport and see all the faces of your friends and family there is nothing like it! I am so happy for the three of you! I will be praying for a safe journey home for all you! God bless you all! Love,
Kendra

Hey Gail,

You go girl and I want to know if you had to seriously leave anything in Donestk. It's all in the folding (even the items that you think are not "foldable" Ha!

Our oldest two daughters are 24 and 22. My oldest , who is starting law school in August had many words, she could not use too. One of them being freaking. The latest good/bad word used in the South is "Snap" what do you think of that one? Ha! If you could say it with a sophisticated twang it might sound like you are just astonished and not being naughty.
