Day 22. Sunday May 6th, 2007. 9 days till court

Hello everyone. You probably guessed it. We went to 2 hour church today. I found out the name of the church. It's called New Hope. They changed the order around on us today. Probably to keep us awake. LOL. We had the English sermon first & then the Russian one. Of course we had our singers. I believe they were the same as last week.
Our English sermon was done by a man staying here at Dontesk University for a few days. Bob Barber from Bible centered ministries. He and his wife are originally from Pennsylvania, but have been living in Scotland for the last 37 years. My Bob met him at breakfast yesterday morning. That would be the translator up there with him.

Our Russian sermon was done by non other than our own Slavik !! We enjoyed it very much even though we couldn't understand a word he said. And, Of course, he wasn't behind us to translate. LOL. This is Natasha and Helena talking to their friends at church. She is looking back because she heard me taking their picture. I told you that they are getting really sick if the camera !! LOL. Bob and I came back and finished off our chili for lunch. Natasha stayed at church with Helena for some kind of lunch thing they were having. It was really nice and sunny here again. Very high 50's and might have gotten into 60's. We walked for an hour through the gardens again. Must have seen over 100 gardens. It was a nice walk. Look what I found on our walk !!! Hey mom, tell dad that by the time we get back I have probably missed out on "baby chick" season. Maybe next year. Natasha and Helena played all day long , of course. They make these wonderful "crowns" out of dandelions. I asked Natasha if she would show me how to make one. She said "No." LOL. That is one of her standard answers when she doesn't understand what we have said. It's either "yes" or "no". She is too funny Slavik & Oksana invited us for dinner tonight again at 6:00pm. They made us a traditional Ukrainian meal. It was good. I apologise if I spell any of the words wrong. We had "polmeni," which is like noodles or dough with meat wrapped up in the middle. You can put sauce on it or sour cream. We also had "Varanasi." This is mashed potatoes & onions wrapped up in this same kind of dough. Kelly bear, you would really like it. I will try to make some when we get home. For dessert we had "blini." This is like a very thin sweet pancake and then there was this sweet creamy icing to dip it into. Yum, Yum. That was sooo good. After dinner they wanted to show us "Mr. Bean." Any of you 6 girls every seen Mr. Bean ?? It is a weird & sometimes stupid slapstick comedy. We watched about 3 or 4 of his episodes. That was enough for me. LOL. Then again we were invited for some tea and ice cream. Oh my gosh. It's a good thing we took an hour walk today. LOL. We said, "you guys don't have to feel like you have to feed us so much." They told us that we were their guests and it was their pleasure. I am still full. LOL.

Oksana is going into the hospital tomorrow for some kind of planned surgery. We don't really know what it is other than some kind of female surgery. Slavik said it would only take about 15 minutes, but she would have to spend the night there. So are prayers are with Oksana and hoping some of you can keep her in your prayers also.

Hey Rick. Small world. We know Andrew. He has been at our house. That was of course when he was dating Kory with a K. LOL. Bob said he would send you his e-mail address in the morning. Thanks !!

I got a couple of pictures from Shauna this morning from the prom. Here's my baby girl !! Can't wait to see more pictures.

Uncle Bob. Look at our baby's. Oh my goodness. That rocking chair is coming up way too fast for me. LOL.

Hello Cody's mom. LOL. Debbie you are too funny. I know your name by now. But that's OK. I still get call "Shauna's mom" at times from Shauna's friends. I'm glad Shauna & Cody FINALLY showed you our blog. I didn't even think to give it to you before we left. Sorry about that. Glad you got to see the kids all dressed up, again. LOL. Well, at least now if you follow the blog you will know when I get home. LOL. (The kids can't fib about it.) LOL. Just a little mother humor Shauna and Cody. Breathe. LOL

Hey Michelle. Thanks. Kendra, you got on once!! LOL. We understand that some people are having a difficult time getting on. That's why Bob mentioned how to do it on Day 11. If that helps anyone out. Try it. If not, I don't know what to do from there. That's OK, we just thought everyone in BIOH had abandoned us. LOL. Just joking guys. Thank you for the family comments Michelle, and your on for a Mexican night also. Doing it with small group sounds great !! We miss all of you. Tell Matthew that we did tell Natasha that "Monkey/Matthew" said "Hi" and she laughed. We may need to be careful with these two Michelle. LOL.

Hurray !! We are finally in the single digit's on the court day countdown. !!!!

Goodnight,

Sweet dreams,

God Bless,

Gail

You guys have given us a new view of parenthood.

I find myself randomly thinking 'I have friends that are half way around the world going though some crazy amount of nonsense to bring a new member into there family' For some reason that helps me realize how special this "family" thing is and makes it enjoyable when it otherwise would be on my nerves.

Love you guys and hope your trip continues to go well.

Take Care
God Bless

sabrina says that tink is bleeding again. but, i haven't seen any blood. idk what to look for though, all i can see is one HUGE chin. haha.

prom was super fun. then we went to the cuyahoga valley national park. it was really pretty. but, we didn't get to take our bikes: 1)the suburban wouldn't start and 2) we jump started it, but it almost overheated bc the antifreeze is leaking. soo we just hiked around and stuff. i didnt even know that that thing existed. it's really pretty.

this is finals weeeeeeek. blah. my first one's tomorrow at 3:30pm. so, that's not too bad of a start to the week. haha.

i should be sleeping, but of course i'm not. umm. yeah. i'm really outta things to talk about now.

Hi I just happened to find your blog. Your daughter is beautiful (Natasha) as well as all of your children!

We adopted from Donetsk in 2002.

May I add your blog to my links?

There is a wonderful monastary with caverns about an hour or two away from Donetsk on the river that might be a nice visit.

Have a wonderful journey and enjoy your time together in Ukraine.
