Day 24 - Tuesday May 8, 2006 - 7 days till court

Hello guys. Hope everyone is well. Our day started out with us getting ready to go to the Orphanage to watch the Victory Day presentation. We also added English lessons in there, of course. We are getting words today like "I'm sorry," "Please", "Thank you." We are so thrilled to hear them. Our "Driver" picked us up about 12:15pm. ( I still love that). We were set for our 1:00pm viewing of the presentation. We were treated like royalty and escorted to the 2nd row. The first row was for the Orphanage director & staff. We couldn't understand a word of it, but enjoyed it very much. Here are a few pictures. Yes, the first one is Marina.

These girls danced very, very well. I was impressed !!

After the performance Natasha was getting hugs from a lot of her friends. She took us to her classroom. They were working on cross stitching. Both boys and girls.
This is her teacher. She hugged her and said "goodbye". Some of the kids said "goodbye" also and waived as we left. It was a little bit sad. When we left the room and were in the hallway, Natasha looked up at me and gave me a hug. I about cried. I told her that we have lots of pictures & she shook her head yes.
Our facilitator did not stay for the performance, she was off to try and get confirmation from the records bureau that our ten day waiting period would be waived. She confirmed that they were willing to agree with the court decree about waiving the ten day period. This means that we are on schedule to finish up all of the necessary paperwork once we have our adoption decree from our court date. Our facilitator has informed us that we are safe to purchase the return train tickets to Kiev for Wednesday evening, May 16. That would put us on track to return to the states on Saturday, May 19. These dates are all tentative so far, we will let you know when they are confirmed .

On our way back from the boarding school, we stopped to get Natasha's pictures for her new passport. :)

Natasha and Helena and another girl Tanya are having a sleep over here at our apartment. Kind of makes us feel just a little bit like home. There is no school tomorrow. Because of another holiday. Victory day. It is a total giggle fest. Bob and I have commented that we wish we knew what they are saying. It's kinda "no fare" !!!!. LOL. Helena, who can speak a little English, came up and gave me a hug. She said "My Momma." Natasha turned around with that mean look she can get on her face and said "NO". Helena laughed & then Natasha laughed & off they went to giggle some more. I totally loved it !!!

Shauna darling my trendsetter. Bob and I were just saying the same thing before you commented on it. It's too funny. Fishing would be fine, but you put the worm on. OK. And I would love a huge poker game. But regular poker, not that other stupid one that I can't even think of the name of right now. And for quarters, or dimes, or pennies. Cody would not win. He has never played me before. LOL. Please use a measuring cup for Georges food. I told you it is not healthy to make him fat. Even though you think it's cute. LOL.

Hey Katie. Keep that weather warm for us OK. Bob use over the counter medicine. Please !!! That would mean he would have to admit he is sick. LOL. I can't believe Faith is almost walking. Noooooo. Tell her to wait. Girlfriend, you must not be putting those tights on right. I think I still have tights from some of my kids dance classes. And, hush up about all that cat stuff. Sabrina doesn't need any more ideas. LOL

Goodnight,

Love to all,

Hugs and kisses,

Gail

Hey, I recognize that stage and those costumes! I miss it. Of course, it’s easy for me to miss it from here. I’m sure I won’t feel the same when it becomes our turn to be there for 6 weeks (+ or -)! Did you get a chance to see Elena or is she still off at camp? I half expect that when we come to get them, we’ll find Alyona there waiting and Elena gone off to some camp again. I wonder how she’ll feel about school from Sept to Jun with no camps. ;^) Sounds like you guys have made some life long friends over there. Hopefully Natasha will be able to stay in touch with her new friends (and old ones from the internat). It gets harder the longer they are home, but when we went back to Russia (in 2004 and 2006) when our two older girls’ classes were “aging out” of the internat after 11th grade it was like old home week! The weather sounds great and we are prayer for you guys that all the dates work out!

Gail, I have been reading your daily blog but have had problems getting an email to you. I emailed you last Thurs to tell you that the meghans from BIOH left for China last Thurs. Sue and I and a few other ladies prayed them off at 5 a.m. They got their 2 year old daughter yesterday. They will be back on 5/18 and I plan on coming to the airport on 5/19 to see you guys as well. I love this ministry! Love,

Broke down and bought floor Swiffer, have yet to try it. I ended up buying it on the rare and unusal occassion when my floor is clean. Now i must wait ten hours for it to get dirty again.

You parents gave us ther old washer and dryer. THANK YOU. My dryer is on its last leg and the new one came at the perfect time.

Now I must ask you to pray for my roommate.(I'll explain) Jim has been my friend since 1999. He just move up here from the south and needed a job. Jerry's broher stopped 'working' for us so we hired Jim. We the noticed that he never stayed at the same place for more than about a week. that is when Jerry and I offered him our basement until he gets on his feet.

Now for the drama. He dated this girl for about a year and they broke up. He finds out like a month later that she is pregnant.

Then he finds out that she is giving the baby up for adoption. (for the five grand she gets paid) Well he has to jump through all these legal hoops to get a paternity test done. He got confimation that he will be granted parenity testing but has to travel to FL to do so.

He is sure that she is his (I am not because the girl was a little 'free-lovish' if you know what i mean, but either way if he is the father he will recieve custody and live up here with her.

This is the point where i tell you that after Jerry and I get a new dryer we will give the set to Jim because anyone with an infant, needs a washer and dryer at home. Plus, she s a baby girl(born 4-10-07) so we can give him most of Faiths stuff.

Now see this is where all of my friends that i tell this story to say ' that is not fair to the prespective parents' and this is where i say, The same thing happened to my parents and they waited longer and got to adopted me instead. If that did not happened, we would not have this wonderful friendship.

Grace rips tights by looking at them. I was the same way. I do not wear panty hose to this day.

Hope everything continues to go well. WE too will continue to pray for you guys.

Hope Bob feels better. The Schario's have a tummy bug.

Take care, Love KT

Hey, sorry we didn't get with you in Donetsk. When we got your comment, we were on our way out of town. Good luck with everything and try to enjoy all of the tourist attractions in Donetsk (he says tongue in cheek). You never know when you will be back.

Well we just got home after stopping at DQ from Sabrina's 7th Grade Choir Concert. I took a picture of the whole choir but couldn't get a close up of her. We were too far away. Daddy said there were about 200 on stage. They did very well, just couldn't hear when the kids were introducing the songs. Got to wave at Cailin afterwards, but she didn't stop to talk. Kids have been so busy with church and school stuff we haven't had a chance to get much else done.
May just have to have a cleaning day again.
Tell Natasha by the time she gets home it will be about time to swim again. Grandpa is opening the pool now. Got chemicals today.
Got my new washer and dryer on Mon. and your friends came and took the old ones tonight. Hope they work as good for them as they did for us.
Take care and time is running down now, so it won't be long. You're still in our prayers. Love to all, Mom & Dad
